Brett Morrow
Cleveland Ironclads4 goals · 1 assist
Morrow led the XHL week with four goals and added one assist. His five player points tied the weekly lead; his January 14 hat trick closed Cleveland’s 7–1 victory as the Ironclads reached 4–0.
The Weekly Honours Issue
Four goals across two Cleveland victories. Five goals in one New York triumph. Our second weekly honours recognise Brett Morrow’s finishing and Russell’s extraordinary seven-point match.
The week gives us 80 completed results across seven sports: unbeaten hockey clubs, a 25-round boxing decision, a Scottish Cup Saturday, a swimming double and a 460-run cricket victory. This is the January 8–14 replay record, brought together on Monday morning.

4 goals · 1 assist
Morrow led the XHL week with four goals and added one assist. His five player points tied the weekly lead; his January 14 hat trick closed Cleveland’s 7–1 victory as the Ironclads reached 4–0.
5 goals · 2 assists
Russell scored five goals and supplied two assists in New York Hockey Club’s 8–2 victory over the US 1st Naval Battalion on January 11. He contributed directly to seven of New York’s eight goals.
Editorial selections for ASN’s replay universe. Historic and Fictional follow the competition. Awarded for performances in the ASN replay universe.
Cleveland, Indianapolis and Milwaukee finish the week 4–0. Kansas City is also unbeaten, at 3–0, with its fourth appointment next on January 15. Morrow’s four goals lead the XHL week outright; his five points share the lead with six other players.
Cleveland’s 7–1 Sunday victory brings Morrow a hat trick after he contributed a goal and an assist in the 6–0 win over Toronto. Serge Noel also supplies five weekly points, including the extra point on a two-point goal.
Indianapolis wins 4–3 against New York after regulation ends 3–3: the pregame target advantage awards a deciding team point. No player receives a goal for that award. Milwaukee’s perfect record includes a 7–4 win over New Orleans.
Houston’s 8–1 defeat of Southern California is the week’s headline rout: seven physical goals, with a two-point finish accounting for the eighth scoring point. Brock Boeser scores twice and earns four player points in the game; Nick Concannon assists SoCal’s only goal.
Sunday supplies a second hat trick alongside Morrow’s. Ryan Nadeau scores all three British Columbia goals in a 3–2 win over Chicago, twice equalising before the third-period winner. Quebec wins 4–2 at Hartford for its first victory and the Nightwatch’s first defeat.
Weighted goals and pregame team awards retain their separate accounting. The scoreboards, physical-goal counts and player ledgers remain available in every linked report.
Gulf Coast, Nashville, New York, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle reach 2–0. New York escapes Los Angeles, 24–22, scoring eighteen third-quarter points before withstanding the Lunatics’ late response.
The Nukes’ final includes six penalty points and six conversion points. Los Angeles receives four penalty points. Accepted penalties annul apparent scores; those awards do not become player touchdowns.
San Francisco’s 33–21 win at Atlanta features fifteen unanswered fourth-quarter points. Huggins scores the go-ahead touchdown as the Superheroes join the unbeaten group.
New Orleans beats Detroit 66–12 in the week’s largest FFL score. Hilliard receives twelve explicitly attributed points: a touchdown and six conversion points. Unnamed scores remain in New Orleans’ team total.
Washington’s Smiley supplies two offensive touchdowns and thirty-two named net field spaces in a 21–12 defeat to Lone Star. That is a strong individual alternative for the fictional honour, even in a losing effort.
All thirty season finals now have full scorebooks. Fury field spaces measure the board, not conventional football yards; named contributions are credited only when the saved resolutions identify a player.
All eighteen English league fixtures for January 13 are complete. Aston Villa comes from behind to beat Everton 2–1; Newcastle overturns Blackburn 4–2; Stoke wins a 4–3 contest at Preston through Billy Maxwell’s 88th-minute winner.
In the Second Division, Luton defeats Barnsley 5–2, with James Brown and John Dow scoring twice each. Rab King scores twice and supplies an assist as Leicester beats Burton 3–1.
Peter Somers scores every Celtic goal in a 3–0 win over Bo’ness. He leads the named football scorers in this week’s accepted games with three goals.
The sixteen Scottish Cup first ties produce thirteen winners and three draws: Galston–Partick, Kilmarnock–East Stirlingshire and Forres–Orion. Motherwell recovers from two goals down to beat Forfar 3–2, while Arbroath wins 4–3 at St Bernard’s.
The archive also holds three replay results dated January 20, accepted as played ahead. They settle the ties in the archive but remain outside this week’s eighty results and award calculations. No later-round pairing is invented here.
Reconstructed selections and fictional replacement names remain marked in the reports. Match-only identities do not acquire historical named-career totals.
New York Hockey Club wins 8–2 against the US 1st Naval Battalion after conceding the first goal. Russell scores five and assists two more: direct involvement in seven of New York’s eight goals.
New York scores six in the middle period and two in the last. Cunningham scores twice, including the game-winning goal. Russell’s individual dominance earns this edition’s Historic Player of the Week selection.
The award recognises the recorded ASN replay. Historical roster names are retained, but playing abilities and roles were estimated for this Hockey Blast adaptation. Russell remains Russell in the record; no unsupported first name or portrait is supplied.
Isadore Strauss defeats Matty Matthews by majority decision over twenty-five rounds on the ASN January 8 slate. The long contest earns its place among the week’s defining stories.
Kid McCoy stops Joe Choynski in round fifteen on January 12. With the earlier Maher knockout, McCoy is now 2–0 in the ASN universe—an early star with a second emphatic ending.
McCoy is an obvious Historic POW alternative. Russell gets this week’s editorial nod for the scale of his seven-point performance; McCoy’s January 1 victory remains his preserved inaugural-week honour.
Terry McGovern knocks out George Dixon in round thirteen on January 9. On the same date, Jack Root wins a unanimous decision over Tommy West in six rounds.
These are the ASN replay decisions and scheduled calendar dates. They do not replace the real historical outcomes or turn reconstructed fight details into historical evidence.
C&D presentation: Fight Card Boxing. The six-bout boxing archive →

New South Wales defeats South Australia by 460 runs. The four innings read NSW 356, SA 268, NSW 638 and SA 266, all ten wickets down. S. E. Gregory scores 131 and 82 for 213 runs; F. A. Iredale makes 59 and 152 for 211.
V. T. Trumper adds 16 and 156 for 172 runs, and takes four wickets for ninety across his two bowling innings. M. A. Noble scores a second-innings century. South Australia’s C. Hill takes six wickets for 117 and scores ninety runs in the match.
The accepted event date is January 9, the historical playing start after the recorded January 6 and 8 no-play days. The internal timeless replay reaches day eight; that internal clock is not a claim about a historical finish date.
The completed match counts once in this weekly edition. Its runs are recorded replay innings, not historical season carry-in. Gregory and Trumper both merit attention in the Historic award discussion.
Dick Cavill wins the one-mile Australasian Championship by 27.8 seconds on January 8, then takes the quarter-mile by 1.5 seconds on January 10.
Two championship victories in the award window make Cavill the strongest alternative to Russell for the Historic honour. His case rests on the two actual replay wins, not an inferred season record.
Hamilton wins the half-mile by 10.8 seconds on January 12. The January 13 220-yard replay is won by the entry recorded as “Smith (mile report)”, by 3.6 seconds. The unresolved identity stays under its recorded label.
These four events fall inside Week Two. Sydney’s full archive contains six completed programme events; earlier swims belong to their own dates. No Sunday race is added to fill the calendar.
Cleveland has supplied two weekly winners in succession, and I can already hear the charge that this newspaper keeps its compass pointed towards our own rink. The remedy is simple: count the goals. Last week Semmes supplied five. This week Morrow supplies four, more than any other XHL player in the seven-day book. A hometown preference is no substitute for arithmetic, though I am pleased when they arrive together.
Mr. Mercer may keep his four-goal argument. Across the sporting world, Russell has produced five in a single match and assisted two more. Seven direct contributions in an eight-goal victory constitute a persuasive application for the Historic honour. We need not pretend that a hockey goal can be converted into cricket runs to recognise an exceptional afternoon.
Frank Mercer and Arthur Pembroke are established fictional ASN columnists. Their views are set within the replay universe.
Each row links the recorded replay. Soccer divisions and cups retain their competition labels. Dates are event dates, not upload order. The three January 20 cup replays are excluded.

The honours window runs Monday to Sunday by Universal event date: January 8–14, with this announcement dated January 15. Fictional versus Historic describes the competition; a familiar real player’s name on an XHL card does not move that performance into the Historic category.
The selections balance dominance, winning impact and narrative significance. Morrow’s goals lead the XHL week; seven players tie on five points. Russell’s five goals and two assists are a single-match replay achievement. There is no numeric conversion between sports.
The January 10 catch-up special remains unchanged in the newspaper archive. This issue returns to the Monday weekly cycle.
All eighty result rows are exact projections of accepted central records dated January 8–14. The awards use the supporting game ledgers, not accumulated career totals or historical carry-in. No missing player contribution, athlete quotation, portrait or score has been invented.
The four generic period engravings and two columnist portraits are existing approved ASN artwork. The cover uses typography and Cleveland’s established crest; Russell’s initial is a typographic marker, not a likeness.
