A level first period becomes a punishing night for the Undertow. Houston Comets (2–2–0) pull away from Southern California Undertow (1–3–0) for an 8–1 victory, scoring seven unanswered points after the early exchange. Brock Boeser and Rob Dunbar each score twice; Boeser’s double-value finish helps him reach four player points.
Sean Kelleher opens at minute 5, assisted by Dunbar and Corey Juhasz. SoCal responds at minute 11: Nick Concannon sets up Hub Cossa to make it 1–1. It is the Undertow’s only goal, but Concannon has a hand in keeping them level at the first break.
Juhasz breaks the tie at minute 16 of the second, from Kelleher. Three minutes later, Boeser converts the two-point opportunity, assisted by Joe Favreau. Houston takes a 4–1 scoring-point lead into the final period.
Then the Comets bury the game. Dunbar scores at minute 7 from Garrett Luter and Ian Sutter; Boeser adds his second at minute 9 from Drew Bueche and Justin Van Drunen. Dunbar’s power-play goal at minute 15 makes it 7–1, with Boeser and Van Drunen assisting. Cliff Bordner completes the rout at minute 19, from Kelleher and Juhasz.
Dunbar, Kelleher and Juhasz each finish with three points. Van Drunen adds two assists. Houston wins the physical-goal count 7–1, with Boeser’s extra point producing the 8–1 final. SoCal won the pregame target contest; that advantage was not needed to decide this regulation result.
