The five event winners

The historical setting

The Star’s regatta report places these swimming races in Lyttelton’s Graving Dock on New Year’s Day. The original swimming programme has five competitions, with five heats for the New Year handicap and two for the 75-yard Regatta handicap.

Our twelve swims produce five event results. Qualifying heats and this meeting summary add no extra events to the Universal counter.

Handicap starts and qualification use disclosed ASN reconstructions. Abilities are estimated and timing is experimental. Period stroke, exact course geometry and a complete local rulebook remain unavailable.
