New York Gargoyles (4–1–1) beat Houston Comets (2–3–1) 6–3 after breaking a 1–1 first-period tie with three second-period goals. Houston pulls within one in the third before New York scores twice in the closing minutes.
Billy Buitron opens at minute 15 of the first; Joe Favreau answers at minute 19. Aaron Sandstrom, Blake Boulay and Radek Vilimek score at minutes 7, 9 and 14 of the second to give New York a 4–1 lead. Favreau’s second goal, at minute 18, cuts the margin to two.
Drew Bueche brings Houston within 4–3 at minute 6 of the third. Colt Kelley restores the two-goal cushion at minute 17, and Chase Maddox completes the scoring a minute later. Kelley finishes with a goal and two assists; Favreau scores twice for Houston. All nine goals carry one-point value.
